Hvězdárna Valašské Meziříčí sits on the hill known as Stínadla in the southern part of Valašské Meziříčí. It has been serving both professional and public astronomy since the new stone building opened in 1955, although its origins go back further to the older Ballnerova observatory. 

The observatory offers a wide range of activities: evening sky watching sessions, lectures, educational programs for schools and kindergartens, astronomical clubs and camps. It also houses didactic exhibits like a model of the solar system and outdoor geological displays. 

It’s a place where both astronomy enthusiasts and casual visitors can enjoy observing celestial events, learning about stars and planets, and participating in hands-on astronomy and space science.
